Invitations, stamps, table linens, flower arrangements, ceremony music, menu…! This is all Ron & I have been thinking about since the beginning of the summer. While all of these elements are vital to the ambiance and décor of our wedding, there are two specific items on our checklist that we were especially eager to accomplish.
An exciting time for a bride is buying her wedding gown. I went with my mother and sister to a few stores (Vera Wang, Amsale and Kleinfeld’s) where I tried on about twenty dresses. With no magazine photos in hand or pre-determined images in mind, I just dove head first into the ball gowns, sequins, lace, taffeta, organza and more. With just fifteen minutes left in my Kleinfeld’s appointment, I started to panic, knowing that I was in the store with the most extensive choice of dresses and didn’t find “the one.” After noticing my frustration and disappointment, the saleswoman agreed to have my sister join her in the stock room to pick out some looks she had in mind for me. After about ten minutes, my mother and I saw the few parts of my sister that were not hidden under the pile of dresses she was carrying back to the dressing room, in hopes of making me a happy bride. That she did…my sister had found my dress (note that she also picked out my prom dress back in high school)! I left Kleinfeld’s extremely enthusiastic and excited for Ron to see me in my dream dress and veil.
Ron & I also has a wonderful opportunity to leave the “wedding planning” at home and be part of an unbelievable engagement shoot with Barbara earlier this summer. I would highly recommend it to every bride and groom. It gave us a chance to get more comfortable with Barbara and her “modeling directions.” The Meatpacking District was the perfect location for our shoot. The cobblestone streets and Highline staircases became the backdrops for our favorite photos and poses. We were also able to take photographs outside The Standard Hotel. It is amazing to have these more casual but professional and gorgeous photos and we hope you enjoy them (some of which are included in this blog)!
