It was finally our wedding weekend and both Ron & I couldn’t have been more excited. We decided to follow a Jewish custom where the bride & groom don’t see each other for a week prior to the wedding. I split that week between my sister’s apartment in NYC and my parent’s house in NJ. While the entire week was filled with last minute walk-thrus with the hotel, our florist SBK Associates, caterer Foremost Erik Marshall from Hank Lane, and Ellen Adelsberg (our wedding planner), we made sure our last meeting was with Anthony & Barbara at their offices. For the first time that week, I truly felt calm, collected and fully confident in the vendors we chose for our wedding.
Next thing I knew, my alarm went off to “remind me” that it was October 27 and I woke up with such a smile on my face. I had just had the best night’s sleep all week and knew that I was ready to start the next chapter of my life. All of my girlfriends started to arrive at 9am, and after we had breakfast and coffee, the hair & makeup prep started. The suite at The Grand Hyatt was filled with my closest friends & family, dresses, shoes, blow dryers, eyelashes! The excitement was almost palpable!
It was finally 2pm – time to get into my dress. Barbara arrived to my suite, while the second photographer went to Ron’s to document each of us getting ready. After those initial preparation shots, we went right into mine and Ron’s “first look” in the hotel, photos at Grand Central Terminal, as well as at the intersection of 42nd Street and Vanderbilt. We took amazing photos in the station by the ticket counters and outside on the street (even tourists were crowding around us and taking their own photos). We had a little time to rest in between photos and the wedding, but at around 8pm, we were ready to start the ceremony!
From 8pm – 2:30am, the photographers were snapping and capturing every important moment. The team truly blended in with our crowd and was never in the way of any celebration. By the end of the evening, we felt like they were our own friends sharing in our joy and love!
When Ron & I first booked our wedding with Barbara, Anthony mentioned that he would try and stop by our wedding because he was already committed to another event that evening. During cocktail hour, we were told that a “celebrity” showed up and wanted to take our photos…and it was Anthony! Anthony was in between two events but wanted to make sure he kept his word and took some photos of us in the ballroom before the reception. While we knew this from the second we met Anthony, we became even more convinced of how sweet, nice and honest he is. He is a true “mensch!”
We are so thankful for Barbara and her team for making us feel extremely comfortable in front of the camera. The posing, directions and funny conversations truly made it a wonderful experience for us. Our experience working with Anthony Vazquez Photography has been nothing but top notch! Their professionalism, kindness, enthusiasm, eagerness to cooperate and oblige, are things that we will forever be grateful for.
We love the photos we have seen thus far (some of which are on this blog) and cannot wait to see the rest! Being someone who thrives on control and order, it is very hard to trust other people with one of the most important days of your life, but I did and our wedding turned out to be more than we could have ever dreamt of or hoped for. Ellen and my parents always assured me that we had the “A-team” with all of our choices and they couldn’t have been more right!
