Zack grew up in Florida and Shira grew up in New York. Shira had always known who he was since one of her best friends in high school grew up next door to Zack in Hollywood, Florida. The summer after 11th grade (summer of 2009), Shira met her best friend LeeLee Borzak who went to high school with Zack.
Fast forward to Passover of 2010 (they were seniors in High school) Zack and Shira met up in Jerusalem where they were both spending Passover with their families. They instantly became friends, which quickly turned into becoming “best” friends. After high school they both spent a year in Israel before going on to college. They were incredibly close. Finally in June 2011, they took the leap and decided to try out dating, and as they say “the rest is history!”
Zack proposed in Riverside Park, which happened to be very symbolic to them. During their freshman year of college they always went to Riverside Park when they wanted to be alone (Shira attended Barnard and it was right down the street). One night Zack told Shira they were meeting his dad for dinner. Since they had some time to kill, they decided to go to their old stomping grounds in Riverside Park. They took a seat on a bench and Zack gave her a photo album. The album had pictures of them with little messages. Finally at the end was a blank spot for a picture and it said, “and here is a picture from the night I asked you to marry me…” Shira looked up and Zack was down on one knee!
The Wedding took place August 17, 2014 at the Old Westbury Hebrew Congregation. The Caterer was Ram. The coupled danced the night away to Aaron Tetelbaem band and DJ Mark Del Rosario. Birch Event Designer helped create a gorgeous space. The bride’s hair was styled by Tamara New York and her make up was done by Chante Cutter. The bride looked like a modern princess in her Rosa Clara Aire gown that was purchased at Designer Loft.
Thank you Shira & Zack for sharing your special day with us!
