Sara and Jared met on Fire Island, July 4th 2011. It was a bittersweet start to summer. Sara grew up going to Fire Island with her family since she was a baby, and her uncle who owned the house had passed away in September of 2010. Sara continued to carry on her Uncle’s legacy and started to go out to the beach with her friends in the summer of 2011. Jared was renting a house with all his friends that same summer. They met on July 4th and introduced themselves to each other. Sara offered Jared a red, white, and blue jello, then they danced the whole night together! They believe Sara’s Uncle Louie set them up from heaven. Sara said, “We knew it was something special right away.”
From Jared:
“I knew that it was love after spending only a few weekends together. Fire Island was a special place to me, but that summer it became even that much more special. I could not wait to get back out there and spend the weekends together on the beach, swimming in the ocean and getting sweaty at the bars. We shared the same values, we both were extremely close with our families, we cherished our friends and we loved traveling, seeing shows, listening to music, watching movies and hanging on the beach. When we were together it was “easy.” Conversations just came naturally, ideas flowed and we were always on the same page about what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go. It was truly love at first sight!”
During their relationship, Sara and Jared had spent all the weekends in the summer going to Fire Island with friends and family. They decided to go alone for a quiet fall weekend in September 2013. They took a walk on the beach on the most perfect sunny day and Jared got down on one knee and told Sara “nothing would make him happier than spending the rest of his life with her.” Sara said, “I was so excited, I thought I would cry, but I was actually laughing and jumping up and down.” The ring was her grandmother’s original setting.
When they got back to the house after the proposal both their families were waiting with bagels and champagne. I think that weekend topped it off as their best weekend spent in FI!
Sara sums up their wedding beautifully…“Our wedding was a dream come true. It was an awesome celebration of love, a fantastic new beginning. The best part was having all of our favorite people from all parts of life, in one room together. No one left the dance floor!”
The wedding took place at Glen Island Harbour Club on 10/18/14.
Kenny Ford from Hank Lane had the guests on the dance floor all night!
Arcadia Florist helped decorate the room and Le Image captured the couple’s special moments on video. The bride was absolutely stunning in her Pnina Tornai gown and she said, “I was so obsessed with my dress. I didn’t want to ever take it off. It was as light as air and so fun to dance in!”
Thank you Sara & Jared for sharing this beautiful story with us!
