When I decided to book with AV, one of the things I was most nervous about was the engagement shoot. I know it’s ridiculous, most people would imagine the wedding day would be the most nerve wracking, but truth be told I figure there will be so much going on that day that I won’t really have time to be nervous! When AV said he wanted to do something slightly more ‘editorial’, I was thrilled. For better or worse, Michael and I aren’t the type to frolic in the park holding hands or kiss tenderly beneath the Brooklyn Bridge (nothing wrong with either of those things, just not our ‘thing’!). We wanted something fun, edgy and that truly embodied “us”. So when we discussed with AV, the Meatpacking/West Village area (where we live) seemed like the only way to go for us.
The day of we were definitely both nervous. Neither of us have had more than a casual snapshot taken of us, and the idea of an entire ‘session’ devoted to us was definitely nerve-wracking. We decided on a drink at Pastis beforehand (11:30am, no judgment…) while we waited for AV. Turns out we didn’t need the drink, the shoot was perfect. Anthony immediately (as he always does) made us feel like friends; we were smiling and laughing (at ourselves) mainly the whole time. So many of the images that are our favorite have such a genuine feel to them and really show how much fun we were having. Friends and family said the same thing, that we just looked like we were having an amazing time, and we were. I couldn’t be happier with the images. They run the gambit from sexy to sweet, from fun to serious, and each of them is unique and fantastic in their own right. Not being a photogenic person, I was thrilled at how they turned out and absolutely cannot wait for my wedding images….
